Understanding IEPs
For parents and educators
|
IEP stands for an Individualized Education Program. This is a legal document written for students who qualify for special education services under IDEA. IEPs are written to make school more beneficial for the student. Because of this, IEPs are different for each student. An IEP has several components.

Introductions
Parent is asked about the student strengths and weakness.
|
Each member of the IEP team will introduce themselves to the group and describe their purpose at the meeting.
This information is asked for directly on the IEP form. It is also a good time for parents to bring up any concerns and issues that they might be seeing.
