- Documentation that outside agency was considered - If appropriate, is there evidence that a representative of any outside agency was invited to the IEP Team meeting with prior consent of the parent or student who has reached the age of majority. - An adult agency representative is only required to be invited to the IEP meeting when that agency is likely to provide and/or pay for transition services during the current IEP.
What to do if an Agency is Needed
- Written consent to invite an agency representative is in the file - Evidence the agency was invited is in the file; - Written consent is dated prior to the agency invitation for each IEP
Effective Practice
- Agencies that may be involved include; but are not limited to: Vocational rehabilitation (VR); Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD); Department of Workforce Services (DWS); Community mental health agencies, community rehabilitation providers, or college disability resource centers. - Students who are potentially eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation can be referred for Pre-Employment Transition Services - Learn about and develop relationships with outside agencies - Start talking to parents/students about relevant agencies early
