Course of study must be stated in the student's IEP including a multi-year description of coursework, specific and individualized to the student, taking into account the student's preferences and interests that will reasonably enable the student to reach the post secondary goals. There are three ways that case managers can list the course of study to be compliant. 1. You can list out the multi-year description of the student's course work. 2. It is also acceptable include a statement that "all classes satisfy requirements for ____________ high school diploma" including specific elective courses that are aligned with the postsecondary goals must be included. 3. You can attach a student's college and career readiness (CCR_ course plan to the IEP, but should document "see CCR plan" on the IEP.
Effective Practice
1. Courses of study should be individualized based on the needs of the student and specifically aligned to the goals and services outlined in the transition plan. 2. A student's course of study outlines specific courses from the current IEP to the student's exit year. 3.
