MY PLAN FOR
Communicating with Families
ENGAGE THEM IN THE LEARNING PROCESS
Give Positive Feedback
No one wants to only hear the negatives or what they did wrong. This applies for families too. They don't only want contact when their child has done something wrong. Building a positive relationship with families of students in the classroom is essential. In order to do this, there must be positive contact from the school to parents and families. Teachers should strive to have five positive interactions with families for every one negative interaction.
Teachers can have more positive interactions and more frequent interactions by: having a class newsletter, emailing parents when their child did something good, and sending thank you notes to parents. This will help build a relationship with the parents so when something happens at school the family will back the teacher up at home. |
