Indicators are measures of compliance. This is used to gauge effectiveness of how the state is implementing IDEA. These indicators are part of IDEA section B. Section B deals with students ages 3-21 who are receiving special education services and/or related services. The 20 indicators are what the state collects data on and submits to OSEP or the Office for Special Education Programs. This information must be submitted by the state by February first each year. Indicators 1, 2, 13, and 14 are related to secondary transitions. Indicator 1 looks at the percent of students on an IEP that graduate high school with a regular diploma. Indicator 2 looks at the percent of students on an IEP who drop out of school. Indicator 13 looks at the percent of students on an IEP who are 16+ with a proper transition plan. Indicator 14 looks at the percent of students on an IEP who are employed or enrolled in a post-secondary school within a year after graduation.
