Under IDEA there are 13 categories disabilities that a student must qualify under in order receive special education and related services.
Specific Learning DisabilitySLDSpecific Learning Disability is the most common category under IDEA. Specific Learning Disability or SLD covers a wide range of learning challenges. This includes a student's ability to read, write, do math, reason, or speak. Approximately about 10-15% of students have a Specific Learning Disability.

Autism Spectrum DisorderASDAutism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental disability that affects a person's ability to interact socially, communicate, and deal with change/transitions. Individuals with Autism often engage in repetitive or restrictive behaviors and are hyper/hypo-sensitive. This means that they experience sense such as touch, smell, taste, sight, volume, proprioseption, and introception stronger or weaker than the average person.
