Brain Breaks
&
Movement ActivitiesBrain Breaks, kinesthetic activities or movement activities, allow students to take a moment to relax and move. When using kinesthetic activities students are engaged in using physical movements to associate specific knowledge in order to develop a mental image of content and skills being learned. Kinesthetic-tactile techniques are used in combination with visual and/or auditory study techniques. Producing multi-sensory learning. These require a manipulative or a material to touch. In order for Brain Breaks to be effective every student has to participate. Allow students the option of participating or walking around the classroom for the entire duration of the brain break.
