Logical Consequences help to eliminate problem behaviors as well as respect the child's dignity whereas punishments rely on shame and guilt to censor behavior. Logical consequences help children to develop a desire to follow the rules because the consequences help them develop self-control and an understanding of why there are rules. This is because the logical consequence relates to the child's behavior.
In order to implement a logical consequence teachers must assess the situation then determine what will fix the problem. As a child becomes more mature, the child can add input as to how to fix the situation. Through logical consequences children learn to do better through reflection and practice. |
